Kvass made of black bread at home

To cook delicious and aromatic bread kvass, unused pieces of dried black bread are suitable, which periodically appear in any kitchen. Home kvass perfectly refreshes on a summer day! The drink will be ready for consumption in a day.

A step -by -step recipe for cooking

Cut black bread with arbitrary pieces and dry in a preheated oven until golden color.

Place the crackers in the jar, add sugar.

Rinse raisins and add to the jar.

Boil water, pour the contents of the jar with boiling water a little more than on ⅔. Cool the workpiece to room temperature.

Dissolve the yeast in a glass of water and pour into a jar.

Leave a can with a drink for fermentation at room temperature for 1-2 days. The readiness of kvass can be determined by eye: the active phase of fermentation will end when the crackers drop to the bottom of the jar. From this moment, kvass is ready for consumption.

If you do not plan to drink kvass immediately, close the jar with a kapron lid and send for storage in the refrigerator.

Before serving to the table, strain kvass through 2 layers of gauze. I recommend consuming kvass in chilled form.

The bread remaining at the bottom of the jar can be used to prepare another batch of kvass: just add a couple of slices of black bread, sugar, water and half a portion of yeast.
